Frequently Asked Questions

Collapsible content

Can I use my creations for eating and drinking?

No, self-hardening clay creations are not recommended for food use. They are not designed to be in direct contact with food or beverages, as they are neither water-resistant nor heat-resistant. These creations are ideal for decorative objects, but not for containers intended for consumption.

Is this a dirty activity?

Working with clay can be a little messy, but nothing too difficult to handle. We recommend protecting your work surface with a washable tablecloth or mat. Clay cleans up easily with water, and a simple hand wash is all that's needed after your session.

How much clay is recommended per person?

For small projects, 500g will allow you to create 2-3 creations. Keep in mind that for large objects such as vases, 500g is generally necessary.
If you are working in a group, a good starting point is 500g per person. Feel free to supplement your kit with additional clay: 500g clay or 1kg clay.

Do I need any other materials?

In addition to the clay and modeling tools included in your pottery kit, you may also want to consider a roller to flatten the clay and water to keep the clay moist. Finally, a suitable varnish or paint can be used to finish and protect your creation.

How much time should I allow for a project to be completed?

The amount of time it takes to complete a project depends on its complexity. Typically, it takes between 1 and 3 hours to model a piece, then about 72 hours for the clay to completely air dry.

If you add painting or varnishing steps, allow a little more time for these finishing touches during a future session.
